Because I can’t answer for others, I can only give you my perspective. I am an award winning certified life coach. I have 20 years of life coaching experience and have transformed thousands of lives. But before I became a life coach I asked myself the same question, “Why be a life coach?” So I’m going to tell you why I decided to be a life coach. And hopefully it will help you to answer that question for yourself.
Why be a Life Coach? I had a passion & gift for solving problems
It started back in my childhood. I was extremely wise for my age and incredibly intuitive. As a result, other kids and adults would always come to me for advice. Thus I always knew exactly what to tell them in order to help them solve their problems. It was a natural ability that continued to grow stronger as I got older. In return, I received an incredible amount of satisfaction and joy whenever my advice worked for them. I honestly wanted to make the world a happier place, and coaching them gave me a way to do it. Also, I realized early on that I gave better advice than the psychologist and therapist on television. So when I became an adult I asked myself “Why be a life coach?” My first reason was, because I loved helping people solve their problems, and was great at it.
It was an alternative to traditional therapist
Throughout my life I would fantasize about becoming a therapist. While I was passionate about therapy, I didn’t want to be a certified MFT (Marriage & Family Therapist). In fact, I didn’t agree with a lot of their traditional philosophies. I also wanted the freedom to use my intuition and non-traditional style of therapy. Likewise, MFT’s were limited by tons of regulations and red tape. Therefore when I discovered “Life Coaching,” I was immediately drawn to it. I knew that it would give me the ability to do therapy my way, without any restrictions. As a result I decided to become a certified life coach.
